First Book Signing

My first book signing for "God Made Wonderful Me!" was fabulous. I sold out of 50 copies within the first hour and had to take a list of people remaining in line to get copies to them later. I was so overwhelmed with the love and support of so many of my friends and family. It was a GREAT day!
I also learned a really great lessons during the signing: ALWAYS ask the store manager point blank "how many copies of my book did you order for this event?" When I got to the store I discovered that in fact NO copies of my book had been ordered by them. Fortunately, I had 50 of my own copies in the truck and ended up selling those instead. Crisis averted. Phew!

Hi, everyone! I wanted to let you know that I'll be having my first book signing of God Made Wonderful Me! at Barnes & Noble on Churn Creek (Redding) on July 12th!

I'll do a special reading of the book at the end of their Saturday story time which starts at 11:00. The signing event will directly follow children's story time and end around 12:30. I'll sign and inscribe personalized messages on books purchased during the event.

Please bring your kids, parents, grandparents, friends, family, co-workers, (strangers off the street! :-) and enjoy this free, air-conditioned family event. (It will be JULY in Redding before we know it!) Coloring sheets and a special treat for the kids will be available at my table.

I really hope you get the chance to come in and say "hi". I'd love to see some friendly faces. Please feel free to pass this on to anyone and everyone who might be interested. Thanks a bunch!

Psalm 139:13-14

The inspiration for my book came from this bible scripture. (You'll find the reference on the back cover surrounded by little pink hearts.) I was at a summer bible study with some friends and we were talking about how fun it must be for God to create people. We were imagining His artistry as he chose deep auburn hair for one and buttery yellow for another; aqua eyes for one and deep chocolate for another. I thought about that all the way home that night and my heart ached as I thought of all the angst we inflict upon ourselves because we don't look the way we think we should. If we could just completely grasp that we are already perfect in the sight of God, designed exactly how he wanted us, what deep rooted security that would bring us.

I sat at my computer that night and started typing the manuscript for what would become "God Made Wonderful Me!" You'll notice as you flip through the pages that the children are all different shapes, sizes and shades of color, but in the end, a "loving heart" is what they all have in common. It is the prayer of my heart that every child (and grown-up) will truly know what a wonderful gift they are to this world.

Author Copies & Tender Moments

I just received my advanced "author copies" of God Made Wonderful Me! and they are so incredibly cute! The illustrator, Karol Kaminski, did an absolutely fabulous job with the illustrations; The pictures are bright, colorful and just plain adorable. I'm so thankful to my publisher, Pauline Books and Media, for putting together such an enchanting little book.

I think the most tender moment I've had is watching my 4-year old look through the pictures and "read" the words that I wrote. I feel so honored that she truly seems to love the book. My favorite part is watching her read the page about having a "tongue for tasting" as she sticks her tongue out and wiggles it around. It cracks me up.

I just started working on getting some of the local bookstores in town to carry the book and set up my first signing at Barnes & Noble during the last week in August. I'm hoping that some of the local bookstores can start carrying God Made Wonderful Me! by mid-June/July. Until then, you can order directly through Pauline Books (http://www.pauline.org/) and pre-order through Barnes & Noble and Borders on-line.

May 1st Release Date

I just received the official word from my editor that God Made Wonderful Me! is still on track for a May 1st, 2008 release date. 6,000 copies are currently sailing across the Atlantic Ocean from Korea to Massachusetts. This is all so new and exciting to me. I've been busy this week doing some pre-release networking at local bookstores and designing this site. Let me know what you think of the site! I'll post more later . . . soccer practice is calling.
